into the blue

Into the Blue uses bold slaps of brilliant blues to fill the sky and sea, the backdrop for children leaping into the unknown. These may be Jane’s happiest paintings. The figures have left behind unseen docks, slides and parents’ hands and are caught in an act of unbridled freedom. They were inspired by Jane’s happy memories of Canadian summers spent ‘Up North’ at the cottage. The images are powerful and nostalgic. The emotion is pure joy.
